“As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John and Andrew asked him privately, “Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are all about to be fulfilled?” (Mark‬ ‭13:3–4)

Key words: asked him privately.

Not everything needs to be posted on social media. Not every topic/question/concern needs to be announced for the masses.

My friend Jaryn was in town this weekend and after copious amounts of sunshine, coffee, and laughter, I told her about something I am wrestling with and said “you have full permission to ask me about this, at any point.”

I live my life “out loud” for the most part (when you live and breathe social media for a career, it just happens) — but not everyone gets to know all the pieces. Not everyone gets to see/hear all the questions, frustrations, tears, and even all the wins.

If you have an iPhone, the most recent update is asking about permissions and what you’re willing to share. It’s a good question. There is a time and space for openness, vulnerability, sharing and transparency. What pieces are you reserving for God — to give Him a chance to speak into your life? Or are you always crowdsourcing on Facebook/Instagram?
